The Diversiform Economist

Hi.  I’m the Diversiform Economist, and welcome to my blog.

The purpose of this column is to provide an alternative perspective on current economic and political issues.

Now I know you’re probably asking yourself the following questions:

1. Who the hell is this schmuck?
2. What does aforementioned schmuck have to offer me that CNN, Fox, or The Wall Street Journal doesn’t provide for me already?
3. What’s the point?

Terse Answer 1: I’m a student currently residing in So-Cal whose interests include Economics, Music, Journalism, and Finance.  I suppose if you wanted to cram all of those into one profession, I would be an econojournafinancisian. Aren’t you glad I made that easy to remember?

Not-So-Terse Answer 2: I’m not here to advocate for any political parties as said forms of media so often do.  CNN and Fox claiming that they’re unbiased is about as viable a claim as that five-dollar hooker down the street swearing she doesn’t have crabs.  We’d all like to believe it’s true, but, unfortunately for all of us, reality is a nasty bitch.

That isn’t to say that I’m unbiased.  However, I’m not going to scream “VOTE FOR (insert politician’s name here)” all over my blog. 

Instead (and here comes Answer 3), I’m here to make you question everything you believe in. 

I mean, let’s be honest here… What are we unless we question the world around us? Let’s imagine a world where everyone did exactly as they were told, followed the exact same rules, and everything was fair and equal.  I’m sure that for some people such a lifestyle would be Utopian. But lets ask ourselves, what is the point in living if everyone and everything is equal?  

That’s right, there is no point.

And that’s why I’m here: to continuously provide new topics for all of you to comment and argue over. 

It’s as Jefferson said, “Dissent is the highest form of patriotism.”
